Is it possible to set doubleClick event on palette object so that when user click on particular node/object some action can be performed.

Yes, each Palette is also a Diagram, so everything that applies to all diagrams also applies to palettes.

Are you sure that you have modified the node template(s) used by your Palette? If the templates are not being shared between the main Diagram and the Palette, the Palette might not be using updated templates.
