I can’t make the Link Shifting tool to work with our current setup. Our GoJS environment is fairly complex and with that being said, it makes no sense to send code snippets.
Are there any known compatibility issues for the Link Shifting tool with other GoJS tools, properties, etc?

The tool assumes that the port (which is normally the whole node) is rectangular and that it’s OK to set the Link.toSpot or fromSpot property.
You could at least show two screenshots for before and after running the tool.
Everything stays the same after running the tool, that’s the problem.
